R.I.P. Lazarus
It was a sad day yesterday in the Mitchell household. After two good long years of friendship, we said goodbye to our fish Lazarus. He lived a long and happy (we assume) life which ended in the early morning hours on Thursday, May 8th.
The story of Lazarus
Original, this Beta fish belonged to my friend Tricia and was named Beta. I had another Beta fish named Tallulah Blue, who was my dear friend and constant companion while Jeff & I were dating and engaged long distance. Tallulah departed this earth about 6 weeks after Jeff & I were married. Truth be told, he never was the same after we got back from the honeymoon and it was downhill from there. Jeff flushed him for me while I was out on a weekend trip with the girls. Everyone knew how sad I was and since Tricia was moving to Denver shortly after our girls' trip, she gave me her fish, Beta.
Beta moved in with Jeff & I and was a great little fish. He really took to life when we put him in his new big bowl and he loved to swim around the little seaweed tree that floated in his tank. He even stayed positive when Major joined our household and used to bark at his bowl whenever he moved. Beta's name changed to Lazarus about a year ago when he jumped out of his little bowl while I was cleaning his big bowl and was on the ground for an unknown amount of time. This was the subject of another post so I won't go into detail. Needless to say, he rose again and has been called Lazarus ever since. When Lara and Leigh Ann were here they expressed their concern for him as he just wasn't looking his cheerful self. They were right. On Thursday, he swam up to the great big fish bowl in the sky. Lazarus, rest in peace, we'll miss you.
